Jewelry Care
All BARSHA jewelry is handmade from 925 sterling silver, with selected pieces also available in gold vermeil — 925 sterling silver plated with 18K gold to a thickness of 3 microns.
To keep your jewelry looking its best over time, we recommend following the care instructions below.
GENERAL CARE
To help keep your jewelry in good condition, we recommend removing it before sleeping, exercising, swimming, or doing activities that may cause impact, pulling, or scratches.
Avoid contact with cleaning products and harsh chemicals.
When not in use, store your jewelry in a dry place and separately from other pieces to help prevent scratches.
925 STERLING SILVER
925 sterling silver is made from 92.5% pure silver combined with other metals to give it the strength needed for everyday jewelry.
Over time, sterling silver may naturally oxidize or tarnish due to exposure to air, moisture and other elements. This is a natural characteristic of silver and does not indicate a defect in the jewelry.
You can shower with your silver jewelry. Water and mild soap can help keep it clean. However, to preserve its finish over time, we recommend avoiding prolonged contact with chlorine, cleaning products, and other chemicals.
For regular cleaning, gently polish your jewelry with a cloth designed for sterling silver.
For a deeper clean, soak the jewelry in warm water with a few drops of dish soap. Gently clean it with a soft toothbrush, rinse well, and dry with a soft cloth.
GOLD VERMEIL
BARSHA gold vermeil jewelry is made from 925 sterling silver and plated with 18K gold to a thickness of 3 microns.
Gold plating naturally wears over time, and the rate of wear depends on how often and how the jewelry is worn.
Pieces that are exposed to more friction, especially rings, may show signs of wear sooner than pieces such as earrings or necklaces. Rings naturally come into more contact with surfaces and other objects throughout the day, which can cause the plating to wear faster.
To preserve the plating for as long as possible, avoid contact with water, chlorine, cleaning products and chemicals, as well as direct contact with perfume, creams, cosmetics and sweat.
To clean gold vermeil jewelry, gently wipe it with a soft, dry cloth. Do not use silver polishing cloths, rough materials or strong cleaning products, as these may damage the gold plating.
REPLATING
With regular wear, the gold plating may gradually fade over time. This is a natural part of wearing gold-plated jewelry.
If needed, you can contact us to check whether your piece can be replated. Replating is available for an additional fee and depends on the condition of the jewelry.
